While the United States is engaged in active military operations against Iran, our neighbor to the north is apparently running an open-door policy for the Iranian regime’s personnel. And the numbers are staggering.
Canadian security services have identified at least 30 high-ranking members of Iran’s government currently hiding in Canada. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is investigating 95 cases involving possible senior Iranian officials — up from 66 just last June. Of those 95, the CBSA has determined that 28 are inadmissible under Canadian law, since senior Iranian officials are barred from entering the country.
The total number of Iranian military and government personnel believed to be in Canada illegally? Estimates run as high as 700.
One Deportation. Total.
Here’s the part that should make your blood boil: despite identifying dozens of inadmissible Iranian officials, Canada has deported exactly one. One person. That number has remained unchanged for months.
These aren’t ordinary illegal immigrants. The group is composed of former cabinet members, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) members, and senior government officials — people directly connected to the regime that has called America “the great Satan” for nearly half a century and is currently threatening global oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz.
A Security Nightmare Next Door
The influx appears to have accelerated since shortly after Operation Epic Fury began on February 28. As the regime faces military pressure from the U.S. and Israel, its officials are apparently fleeing to the safety of a country that can’t — or won’t — enforce its own immigration laws.
Canada’s Conservative Party has raised the alarm, noting that Iranian officials are exploiting the country’s refugee system to escape accountability. Some of these so-called “refugees” have already engaged in acts of violence and intimidation against legitimate Iranian refugees — the very people who fled the regime these officials served.
The Broader Problem
Canada ceased to be a serious country on national security some time ago, but this takes the negligence to a new level. Having hundreds of officials from a hostile foreign government living freely within your borders while your closest ally is at war with that government isn’t just an immigration failure — it’s a national security crisis that directly impacts the United States.
The Trump administration should be pressing Ottawa hard on this issue. Every Iranian regime official hiding in Canada is a potential intelligence asset, a potential threat to North American security, and a living symbol of the Trudeau government’s fundamental unseriousness about the threats facing the Western world.
Seven hundred regime officials. One deportation. That’s not a policy — it’s a punchline.
